HHES Library Hours & Rules

Hermon Hutchens Library Hours

7:45a.m. - 3:30p.m. We welcome students and parents to the library before and after school.

Library Use

Every class has one library time each week. Teachers may sign up for one additional weekly 30 minute slot.

Students may come to the library on an individual or small group basis. Up to 4 students may come using a library pass given to them by their teacher any hour the library is open.

Students may not use the library from 11:00 - 11:30 without adult supervision. Mrs. Bryson and Mrs. Park, the librarians, are not available in the library at that time.

Library Material Check Out Policy

Kindergarten/1st Grade Students
1 book
2nd Grade Students 2 books
3rd - 6th Grade Students
3 books

 

 

 

Books may be checked out up to one week. If a student has an overdue library book, borrowing privileges will be revoked until the book is returned or paid for.

Students doing special research projects may be allowed to check out more than the required limit if they have no overdue's and are given permission by their parents and classroom teacher.

Overdue notices will be sent to parents at mid quarter grade checks, parent conference, and when report cards are sent home in the mail.

Students will not receive the last report card of the school year until all library materials have been returned or paid for.

Borrowing From Other Libraries

Students are encourage to check out books and materials from the junior high and high school libraries if they are unable to find suitable items at the HHES Library.

HHES Library Rules

1. Follow directions first time given.

2. Use appropriate library behavior.

3. Stay constructively occupied

4. Handle all library materials with care and clean hands.

5. Return library materials in a timely fashion.

If You Choose To Break A Rule

1st Warning Verbal warning
2nd Warning Time out for 5 minutes. Fill out a "Time Out" form.
3rd Warning

1. Let classroom teacher know the problem.

2. Call home to parent.

3. Students K-3rd grade stay in for recess. Students 4th - 6th grade will stay after school 30 minutes the following day.

4th Warning

1. Let the classroom teacher know the problem.

2. Call the parents

3.Student goes directly to the office and referral to principal.
