Reptiles

If you travel to Alaska by way of the Alaska Highway from Canada, you will come to a sign at the border that gives a few Alaska facts. The last line of the border-sign reads: "There are no snakes in Alaska."

This may sound surprising to many, but snakes and other reptiles cannot survive in this northern climate.

We do not have any reptiles in our collection. Would you like to send us one? (Not alive.........)

Mr. Richardson used to hunt the kind of turtle you see here when he was a kid growing up on the Crow River back in New London in central Minnesota. In one day, he and his brother, along with their cousin, caught 102 of them! Then they let them go.
