Snowy Owl
by Zach

Snowy owls stay in the Arctic during the winter unless their food source is scarce. They have great vision too. They can see high up in the sky and swoop down silently to catch their prey. The baby snowy owls are called owlets.

If they leave the Arctic they will go to Northern Greenland, the Canadian Islands, Northern Eurasia, Wrangel Island, as well as North America. Snowy owls live in the tundra. Their height can reach up to 27 in. making it one of the biggest owls.
Wingspan is 45-60 in.

In the summer, snowy owls are brownish with dark spots and stripes, and in the winter, they are completely white.

Snowy Owls lay 8-10 eggs at a time. They are laid on the ground or in hummock trees.

How did the snowy owl get to our library? We are not sure, but seeing that it had no marks on it, it may have gotten a sickness and died!!!
