FY27 Financial Plan
The public is invited to review the FY27 VCS Financial Plan, ask questions, and offer feedback to the VCS School Board. Members of the community may schedule time with the Director of Business Services for a private viewing and discussion.
The following group sessions will be open to the public:
- Public Hearings: March 5th and 11th, 2026 at Noon in the VCS District Office
- Regular Session of the Board: March 9th, 2026 at 7pm in Valdez City Council Chambers

Mission & Philosophy
Our mission is based on a partnership of schools, parents, and the community united in education for life - instructing, inspiring, and empowering every student in a safe environment.
We do this by offering a challenging curriculum across all three schools - Hermon Hutchens Elementary, Gilson Middle School, and Valdez High School. Students enjoy a rich educational experience from Pre-Kindergarten through twelfth grade through the collaborative efforts of engaging teachers, administrators, and staff.

Dave Cronk has been selected as the Principal of Valdez High School for the 2026–2027 school year, pending school board approval.

Valdez High School senior Erik Vincent has been selected as one of two students representing the State of Alaska in the United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP).
