  • STATE TESTING:  The Alaska Dept. of Education and Early Development (DEED) recently announced a new statewide summative assessment.  AK STAR will replace the Performance Evaluation for Alaska's Schools (PEAKS) assessment for the English language arts (ELA) and mathematics.  AK STAR will be administered to students in grades 3-9 to assess their understanding of the Alaska ELA and Math Standards adopted in 2012. Students in grades 5, 8, and 10 will also take the Alaska Science Assessment using the Data Recognition Corporation (DRC) testing platform.
