I grew up as a farmer/rancher in Idaho and enjoyed that as a first career.  As a result, I like to grow things, build things, break things, and fix things. I began teaching in Alaska in 1996.  Places I have taught at in Alaska include villages on Prince of Wales Island and Nikiski on the Kenai Peninsula. I also taught in Monticello, Utah.  I have also coached for many years, and have enjoyed teaching social studies, computers, and woodshop.

I love to fish.  I have fished commercially in Cook Inlet, as a sportfishing guide on the Kenai and Kasilof rivers, and love to fish on my own.  I am in heaven when I am fly fishing for rainbows, dip netting or flipping for reds, back trolling/bouncing for kings, or mooching for silvers, or even hookin' humpies.

My greatest joys, however, are my family.  My wife and I have 6 children (4 daughters, 2 sons) and two granddaughters.  They are awesome, and I am glad they let me tag along.
