The Facilities & Operations Department are committed to ensuring that all systems operate efficiently and reliably, addressing repairs promptly, and minimizing disruptions to the educational environment. By employing skilled professionals and implementing a proactive approach, we oversee a comprehensive preventive maintenance program designed to extend the life of our assets, reduce operational costs, and ensure the safety of students, staff, and visitors. Additionally, the department manages a forward-thinking capital improvement program that addresses long-term infrastructure needs and supports the district’s evolving goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinates capital projects and major maintenance with the City of Valdez and follow-up onsite inspections conducted by the Department of Environmental Conservation and the State Fire Marshal.
- Provides maintenance support to all schools and departments of Valdez City Schools.
- Oversees custodial, OSHA, ADA, AHERA and water quality at school and department sites.
- Preventative maintenance plans and Capital Improvement applications for the Department of Education and Early Development.

Maintenance Requests
Did something break in your classroom? Would you like heavy furniture moved? Did you notice a water leak? VCS employees should email their building principal or administrative supervisor with maintenance requests. Principals and Directors will then review the request and submit a work order accordingly.
