Mrs. Amanda Jones

Mrs. Jones was new in Alaska for the 2021-2022 school year. During the 2020-2021 school year she taught school in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Since arriving in Alaska she is still working on getting warm. She loves exploring around Valdez with her husband and large, friendly black dog, who she hopes does not try to make friends with any bears. Amanda earned a Bachelor's of Music Education from the University of Idaho, a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University, and completed her teacher training in Waldorf Education from Anticho University, New England. In the past she's played the organ, clarinet and trumpet in various music ensembles, has taught piano, guitar, and choir ensembles, and thinks she'll be learning to play the piano for the rest of her life. She loves connecting with and building relationships with people and helping them improve and progress towards their own goals.  In the 2021-2022 school year Mrs. Jones is excited to be teaching Middle School and High School Band, Jazz Band, and Choir.

Mrs. Jones enjoys being in the sunshine, trying new things, wakeboarding, rock climbing, and laughing. Anti-jokes are her favorite, and in her perfect world "cleaning" would be something delicious that you eat.
