I have been teaching kindergarten in Valdez since August 2013.  Kindergarten is my "happy place"!  I taught preschool and kindergarten in the Native community of Teller (near Nome) for 5 years during the years of 1996-2004.  From August 2004 to June 2009, I worked as an advisory teacher for home schooling students in the Prince William Sound area.  From 2011 to 2013, I taught gifted and talented students in grades 3-high school for the Valdez City School District.

My husband Andy and I are the proud parents of 2 sons, ages 17 and 21.  Our oldest son is attending a university near Hamburg, Germany and our youngest son is attending University of Alaska, Fairbanks.  

When I'm not teaching, Andy and I live in McCarthy (in the heart of the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, a 4 hour drive from Valdez) and run a lodging business, Currant Ridge Cabins.
