Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Kelly came to language teaching in an organic way, through experience. She learned French in high school, and though she enjoyed her language classes and teachers, followed another passion in college. She earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from West Chester State University, and taught at the elementary level in bush Alaska. After several years teaching everything from preschool to high school trigonometry, she rediscovered her love of language on a summer trip to France. Deciding to go on to a Master's program in teaching French, she first spent a year attending university in Aix-en-Provence, living with a local family and studying literature and French history. She earned her M.A. in Teaching (French and ESL) from the School for International Training. While there, she picked up Spanish from her Bolivian housemates. She has gone on to become highly qualified as a Spanish teacher as well. Mrs. Kelly is recognized as a veteran teacher of world languages using Comprehensible Input strategies.
Mrs. Kelly loves to kayak, hike and sail in Prince William Sound, and to play folk and traditional music.
