I am so excited to be a part of the Gilson Middle School team this year. I am a special education teacher working with students across 6-7-8 grades. I have a passion for making learning exciting for all students and am thankful to be a person who gets to do what they love for a living. This is my eleventh year of teaching and my first year teaching in Valdez. My teaching career began as a fourth grade teacher in a suburban Kansas community. I taught there for five years before making the move to Alaska. My first teaching position in Alaska was up the road in Kenny Lake, where I taught in all content across grades 3-7 for five years. Last year I made the transition from general education into special education and have loved every minute of it. In addition to teaching special education here a GMS, I also teach exploratory art, and I am the student council advisor.

Outside of the classroom I am the mom to four wonderful children. My husband and I enjoy an active lifestyle with our four kids spending most of our summer time four-wheeling, fishing, hiking, camping, and gardening. We have loved our transition to Valdez thus far and look forward to many years in this wonderful community!
