Degrees and Certifications:
I was born and raised in Valdez, Alaska. From a young age I knew that I wanted to work with children. I left for the University of Alaska Fairbanks in the fall of 2001 with a plan to quickly obtain my degree in Elementary Education. After almost three years of coursework, I took a hiatus from my education. However, life raced on and I met Peter, my future husband. We were married in 2007 and now have four sons, ranging in age from 4 to 12. You can typically find us outdoors, enjoying nature by camping, hiking, rafting, or just wrestling in the dirt.
I returned to college and began my internship in the fall of 2016. With great effort, the guidance of my mentor Kristie Cranor, the support of the school district, and the love of my family, I graduated with my degree in Elementary Education in the spring of 2017. The following school year, I took a new position as the RTI Tutor, allowing me the opportunity to work with students ranging in grades K-5. Starting this fall, I am thrilled to take on the role of a 5th grade teacher! I am excited to be a part of the Valdez City School District teaching team, but most importantly, I feel fortunate to be serving as a guide for the youth of our community.
