This page is intended to provide you with general information for registering your child in Valdez City Schools. Please be sure to contact the specific school your child will be attending for additional information.

Student enrollment at Valdez City Schools is available online. Our electronic registration system simplifies the paperwork process for parents and guardians, allowing you to review, sign, and submit your child’s required forms digitally online via computer or mobile device . This process is intended to make the new school year form updates fast, easy, and safe.

General Information

 

Students New to VCS

Pre-K Enrollment occurs in early spring and continues throughout the summer. 

Students in grades K-12 who are NEW to Valdez City Schools can complete a pre-registration application at anytime using the buttons below.

New Student Enrollment

In order to register in Valdez City Schools, new students are required to submit the following as per VCS board policy.

  • Physical examination.
  • Original birth certificate.  A birth certificate is required for verification.
  • Meet immunization requirements.  
    • All students need to provide a copy of their current record of immunizations. Prior to first entry into school, a child must be fully immunized as required by law or file the necessary exemption paperwork. Please contact the school nurse if you have questions.

** These initial registration requirements are not applicable for students experiencing homelessness or those in Office of Children’s Services (OCS) custody/foster care; please contact your school secretary to get more information on these special circumstances.

Once pre-registration is complete, each school's front office will process the submission and send and email with information regarding access to the Powerschool Parent Portal and full online enrollment packet.
 

Students Returning to VCS

Enrollment for current Valdez City Schools students occurs mid-summer.

Annual enrollment is required for all returning students.  Parents can complete the online enrollment packet within the Parent Powerschool Portal via the button below. 

 
Once logged in, select the Forms option (located in the left menu in a web browser, or in the More option on the bottom menu in the mobile app). Then, select the Enrollment tab. You should see several forms waiting for you!
 
If you are unable to log into Powerschool, click on the “Forgot Username or Password?” link . This will bring you to the PowerSchool portal recovery screen. If you are having trouble with a reset to your password, select the “Forgot Username” tab to make sure you are using the right username too.
