Board Policy

The School Board's most important function is to establish policies, which communicate its direction for the management and control of the schools. Policies are written statements adopted by the Board, which communicate the guidelines and limits within which the Superintendent or designee and staff may take discretionary action.

The Valdez City Schools comprehensive board policy manual is composed of three item types.

  1. Board Policies (BP), which help govern and manage the district’s work.
  2. Administrative Regulations (AR), which specify required actions and procedures under which the school district operates.
  3. Exhibits (E), which consist of district forms or additional information to support the policies.
